Admissions
We aim to make your admission process flow as smoothly as possible. In order to achieve this we work closely with the admission departments of the universities. We do this to ensure that we have the latest and most up to date information on admission criteria and entry requirements. We support students in UCAS applications as well as direct applications to the universities.
Most universities recruit students following a general criteria. However, some universities have their own specific admissions procedure. Most courses that require an admission test are subject to an earlier UCAS application date in mid-October. This the case for medicine and dentistry courses, for which applicants are expected to take the UKCAT (UK Clinical Aptitude Test) before submitting their application through UCAS. Applicants will also need to show that they have work experience, paid or unpaid, in a health or related field.
The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge use testing for specific subjects that are not normally used by other universities, for example in English literature, philosophy and history. Art and design courses will often require applicants to have completed a foundation diploma as part of the entry requirements and will also necessitate the production of a portfolio of work. Many vocational courses that lead to a professional qualification require pre-testing and an interview. These include social work, nursing, and midwifery. International students need to show that they have English language skills at the required level before they are given admissions.
Most universities demand IELTS, however some offer their own online and free English test. We guide you on both. Some courses require applicants to have an interview or a multi-modal interview (or both) that assesses a range of skills and aptitudes and their situational judgement as an entry requirement. We help you prepare for university interviews during the admission process. Students applying for a programme in the performing arts will have to attend an audition as part of the entry process if they make it to that point. Details of these can be found on the relevant university course pages or through UCAS. If the student is applying to a conservatoire, they need to apply directly and not through UCAS.
